Strategic Visioning Journey

Thanks to funding from the Department of Local Affairs, DIRT is embarking on a Strategic Visioning journey over the winter 2018-2019 months.  Please let us know your feedback on what we've been doing, what we could do, and how to improve our effectiveness and our capacity.  Watch for surveys that will be distributed throughout the community and draft plans are expected out next spring.  We are partnering with Ayers Associates for this project.  For more information, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Flowerbed Makeover

Town Square Cabins flowerbed gets a makeover.  By shrinking the footbprint of the flower bed, we hope to reduce the damage from cars backing into it!  Thanks to Jud and Marian Hollingsworth, Russ Brown, and a man who just stopped to help.

Coffee & Conversation to be held Oct 3

Please join us for the next Coffee & Conversation at The Confluence from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.  We will have a discussion with Larry Lucas (historic preservation architect from the Colorado Main Street program) and Kim Grant (director for the Endangered Places program with Colorado Preservation Inc) and talk about the role of historic preservation design guidelines, the need for an updated survey of our downtown district, the outbuildings of Lake City, and any other historic preservation related questions you may have.  Events are informal, with coffee sponsored by Lake City DIRT.

Later that day, we will be hosting a visioning charrette at the Anthony Gallery to look at our Downtown Underground (previously the Hole in the Wall saloon and envisioned to be The Art Cave).  Join us there at 10:30 a.m. for a tour and discussions throughout the rest of the morning and early afternoon.  (We will order brown bag lunches that you are welcome to purchase).  Issues of accessibility for all three floors of the Arts Council building, along with future uses and funding opportunities will be discussed.

Kim Grant will also provide a presentation about the Endangered Places Program and how we are participating in that state-wide program locally.  For a more detailed agenda, please contact us.

Please join us for any discussions you are able to and comments will continue to be taken throughout the process.  The celebration of historic preservation and re-use of our beloved historic buildings is a tenet of the National Main Street program and a community value of Lake City and Hinsdale County, Colorado.  We hope to see you next week!
