LAKE CITY, COLO., (June 27, 2018):   The annual monthlong celebration of Lake City’s heritage begins August 1st and features cemetery tours, ghost tours, walking tours and interior homes, as well as the special presentation of Scarlet Belles, an Old Radio program and musical acts.  A calendar of events is available from the Chamber of Commerce, at local establishments, or online at

Celebrate Colorado Day (August 1st) with the First Annual “Wet Your Whistle” pub crawl fundraiser for Car 211.  The Historical Society is bringing back and restoring this combination passenger/freight train which was the “last train out of Lake City.”  Come and welcome it back TOMORROW at the Museum.  We expect the crane to arrive from Monte Vista to move the car into its new location early afternoon.

Sponsors for the 2018 program include Community Banks of Colorado, the Hinsdale County Lodging Tax Board, Lake City DIRT, the Matterhorn Motel, Sportsman’s Outdoors & Fly Shop, and the Town of Lake City.
