History Month Kick-off Events.  The Proclamation and Announcement of the San Juan Tapestry will be held immediately before both August 1st events.

Hinsdale County staff will dress in period clothes on Mondays throughout August.  Stop by the Historic Courthouse.

Lake City DIRT and the Hinsdale County Historical Society are pleased to announce release of “A San Juan Tapestry – Hinsdale County & Lake City, Colorado – History – Photographs – Memoirs”.  This 118 page, soft cover book sells for $20 (tax included) and features more than 135 historical photographs, personal remembrances and excerpts from historical publications, woven through a written history of our area.  Find out more at www.lakecitydirt.com or 970-944-DIRT.  Proceeds will support historic preservation education efforts.    This project is financially support by a Preserve America grant through the National Park Service.

Lake City DIRT is pleased to announce the release of the 2012 Holiday Ornament featuring the Armory (also known as the Lake City Opera House).  This project is made possible thanks to a grant from the Department of Local Affairs and is a partnership between Lake City DIRT and the Town of Lake City.  Ornaments are sold for $20 (tax included).  Find out more at www.lakecitydirt.com or 970-944-DIRT.  Previous ornaments in the set of Commemorative Lake City Historic Buildings include the Miners & Merchants Bank, the Hinsdale County Courthouse, the Lake City Museum, and the Lake City Arts Center.  The Armory is the fifth ornament in the series.
